Tragic Murder of Convicted Sex Offender in Chiapas Prison

The murder of inmate Yudiel Flores Tovar in the El Amate prison in Chiapas has revealed a chilling case of child sexual abuse. The inmate, sentenced to 119 years in prison for crimes against minors, was found dead from asphyxiation by strangulation last Monday.

According to Chiapas prosecutor Jorge Luis Llaven Abarca, Yudiel Flores's body was removed from his cell and taken to another module in an attempt to simulate a suicide. Upon investigating his belongings, a phone was discovered containing images of the inmate sexually abusing minors inside the cell he occupied.

Llaven Abarca detailed that Yudiel Flores continued to abuse minors, repeating his criminal behavior even while in prison. Furthermore, upon reviewing the phone, a large amount of international child pornography was found, dated from May 2024.

The inmate had been arrested in May 2021 for human trafficking, child exploitation, child pornography, and aggravated rape of minors. He had been identified by the United States as part of an international child pornography production network.

Regarding the murder of Yudiel Flores, two lines of investigation are being considered: potential revenge by the victims' parents and a possible dispute among inmates within the prison. The prosecutor also acknowledged that for the abuses and the murder to occur, there must have been collusion or omission by the security staff of El Amate prison.

The case has caused shock, as it reveals a situation of high danger where minors were entering the inmate’s cell to suffer abuses. Authorities continue to investigate both the abuses and the murder, prioritizing the safety and protection of the minors involved.
