The Mexican government issued a security alert for 37 units of child car seats due to an error in the maximum anchor weight labeling, increasing the risk of injury. The Federal Consumer Prosecutor's Office (Profeco) reported that the alert was made in collaboration with the company Child Safety and Mobility of Mexico regarding the One4life Slim car seats, from the brand Britax.
According to Profeco's detail, the products with serial numbers E1D197A, E1D197B, E1D197F, and E1D197G have an error in the labeling and usage instructions. The seats indicate a maximum weight of 40 pounds (18.14 kilograms) for the installation of the lower anchor facing backward, when the correct maximum weight is 35 pounds (15.87 kg).
The company warns that exceeding 35 pounds (15.87 kg) could cause harm and injuries to the child occupant of the seat. Profeco stated that the affected products will be withdrawn from the market to correct the labeling and instructions. Additionally, a replacement kit with the labels and replacement instructions will be sent at no cost to consumers.
The steps to receive the replacement kit will be published on the official website of the Britax brand, from the company Child Safety and Mobility. The company will contact those affected via email.
