Investigation of 16 pharmaceutical companies for irregularities

The Secretary of Anti-Corruption and Good Governance, Raquel Buenrostro, revealed during the morning conference this Tuesday that they are investigating 16 pharmaceutical companies for irregularities in the sale of medications, along with one additional company that has been disqualified. The disqualified company was identified as Biomics. Buenrostro reported that there is already one company under investigation for document forgery related to Cofepris registration, and it is likely that this will lead to criminal matters this week.

Regarding the other 16 pharmaceutical companies, the official did not provide further details, but confirmed that investigations are ongoing due to irregularities detected during the review of documentation for the purchase of at least 650 medication keys. Collaboration is underway with the Ministry of Health and Cofepris to establish transparent procedures to prevent abuses in the bidding processes for the acquisition of medications.

Buenrostro emphasized that a specific amount was not identified in all the bids considered irregular, and upon being halted, they did not cause damage to the public treasury. Regarding the investigations, she mentioned that all individuals involved are being examined, but did not provide further details due to the deliberative nature of the process.

At another point in the conference, Buenrostro mentioned that they are examining 59 companies for various reasons, ranging from non-compliance to the provision of false information during the bidding processes. These companies, mostly from the real estate sector, would not be linked to the pharmaceutical field. It has been decided to collaborate with personnel from SAT and Customs to carry out the corresponding investigations.
