In the Azcapotzalco borough of Mexico City, a 77-year-old woman was the victim of a violent robbery in her own home, triggering outrage among citizens and actions by local authorities. The situation escalated when a man, whom the woman asked for help to move her disabled son, attacked her, threw her to the ground, stole cash, and then fled on a bicycle.
The recording of the attack from security cameras installed in the house revealed the victim's vulnerability and her pleading to the aggressor. The 41-year-old criminal was intercepted by the police after a failed attempt to escape upon noticing their presence at the scene. He was found in possession of 20 bags of marijuana and cash.
The detainee already had a criminal record for similar offenses in the past. In front of the authorities, the woman stated that she was alone at the time of the incident and asked a stranger who offered to help her with the burden of her son. This action prompted a swift mobilization of the authorities, resulting in the detention of the aggressor, who will undergo legal proceedings to determine his legal status.
