Investigation Launched After Dog is Lifted by Drone

A group of young people in Xul-Ha, Quintana Roo, tied "Osito," a Chihuahua dog, to a drone and lifted it more than three meters high on April 23. Images shared on social media showed the frightened animal while those present laughed. Currently, "Osito" is under official care.

The Prosecutor's Office reported that it is investigating the case and has ordered that the dog remain in the custody of the SEMA. The animal's owner is cooperating with the authorities to clarify what happened. Responsibilities are expected to be determined as the investigation progresses.

Authorities confirmed that the dog is healthy and safe under their protection, while the dog's owner appeared to testify before the Public Ministry. The case has generated great controversy and has received criticism from users and different animal welfare organizations.

The Prosecutor's Office of Quintana Roo, in conjunction with the SEMA and the PPA, announced the rescue of "Osito" on Tuesday, April 29. The situation is still under investigation to clarify the facts and ensure the animal's well-being.
