Eight children were injured during a school camp in Oaxaca, Mexico, on April 29. The minors, aged between 4 and 9 years, suffered burns of varying severity during an event at the Françoise Dolto School. According to gathered testimonies, a teacher attempted to stir a campfire with alcohol, causing an accident that affected the children.

One of the affected girls is in critical condition at the General Hospital. The school reported that it activated an insurance policy to cover the medical and recovery expenses of the injured children. Additionally, it announced that classes will resume on May 6 once the legal proceedings are concluded.

Relatives of the injured accuse the school of a lack of transparency and of not providing clear information about what happened. They point out severe injuries in some students and demand that educational authorities intervene in what they consider negligence on the part of the school regarding safety protocols.

Some parents, through social networks, have expressed their anguish and called for justice for the affected children. The responsible teacher also suffered burns and is hospitalized. Parents are denouncing the lack of adequate safety measures and requesting urgent intervention from the relevant authorities.
