Contamination in La Talaverna and Ternium's Response

Neighbors of the La Talavera stream have reported the death of turtles, birds, and dogs in the area, attributing these deaths to pollution caused by the discharge of ferrous oxide and acidic water, following an incident at the Ternium company. Despite this, the company has confirmed that more than 150 people are working tirelessly to ensure that the watercourse poses no risk to the health of the population.

Ternium has activated emergency protocols and is providing information to the relevant authorities and the community. They have initiated immediate containment and remediation actions, working on the comprehensive cleaning of the affected area, including the removal of debris, tires, weeds, and waste unrelated to the event. Work is currently being done to eliminate the reddish discoloration in the concrete caused by the ferrous oxide, although it is assured that it poses no danger to the environment or to the health of the inhabitants.

More than 150 workers, including cleaning personnel and specialized technicians, are involved in the cleaning efforts. Neutralizing material has been applied, laboratory analyses have been conducted at various points in the stream, and environmental monitoring has been implemented to ensure water quality and the preservation of local flora and fauna. Ternium has reaffirmed its environmental commitment and has stated that they will continue to work until the discoloration is completely eliminated, complying with all necessary protocols.

Despite the company's efforts, residents in the area have reported the presence of dead turtles, birds, and dogs in the affected area.
