A truck loaded with more than 15 thousand liters of gas suffered a serious accident on the Camino al Cerrito avenue, located in the municipality of Los Reyes La Paz, State of Mexico, after losing control due to a brake failure. The driver of the truck was unable to stop the unit, resulting in a high-speed crash against two people and three private vehicles before coming to a halt.
Images shared on social media show the victims of the accident lying on the ground, severely injured and with obvious signs of trauma. In one of the captured scenes, a young man can be seen lying face down with bleeding wounds on his head, while in another snapshot, another young man is shown unconscious and barefoot after the impact.
Following the accident, emergency teams quickly arrived at the scene to assist the injured. Two people who were hit were transported in critical condition to a nearby hospital. The incident also caused damage to several vehicles, leading to a significant deployment of rescue services and traffic congestion in the area for several hours on May 5, 2025.
Despite initial reports indicating that the truck driver fled the scene, it was later confirmed that he was apprehended and presented to the Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico. Local authorities are investigating whether the cause of the accident was a mechanical failure or possible negligence on the part of the driver. Police cordoned off the area to facilitate investigations and expert assessments.
