The Government of Jalisco presented two social programs with a global investment of 170 million pesos, aiming to benefit over 8,300 people in the state. Andrea Blanco Calderón, General Coordinator of Strategic Social Development, emphasized the importance of investing in programs that redistribute caregiving responsibilities, ensuring that the caregiving agenda is a priority.
As part of these programs, "Yo Jalisco, Support for Childcare Centers" and "Yo Jalisco, Support for Caregivers" were presented. The former will provide a monthly subsidy of 1,500 pesos to mothers, fathers, or guardians of children up to five years and 11 months for payment of childcare services in private institutions. It is projected to benefit over 4,000 families in eight months, with an investment of 50 million pesos.
Additionally, in the B modality of this program, support of up to 500,000 pesos will be granted to improve the infrastructure and equipment of private childcare centers, benefiting between 100 and 150 of them with an investment of 50 million pesos. Andrea Blanco highlighted the importance of professionalizing caregiving to ensure safe and suitable environments.
On the other hand, the program "Yo Jalisco, Support for Caregivers" aims to provide economic support to caregivers of people with disabilities, chronic kidney disease, and/or children with cancer, as well as to abandoned and institutionalized persons with disabilities. A monthly support of 2,000 pesos will be provided to over 4,270 people for eight months.
Priscilla Franco Barba, secretary of the Social Assistance System, emphasized that these strategies aim to reduce gaps in inequality and vulnerability in the state, prioritizing the care of the most vulnerable individuals. The call to participate in these programs will be made soon, aiming to provide support to those who need it most in Jalisco.
