In the Pedregal de Santo Domingo neighborhood, a fire on Tejamanil Street resulted in the tragic loss of two people and a pet. In response to this situation, the Coyoacán municipality, along with the Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection Unit (UGIRyPC) of the jurisdiction, provided assistance to those affected.
The incident, which began with an explosion around 10:00 AM followed by a fire in a house on Tejamanil Street, mobilized the CDMX Firefighters, the Citizen Security Secretariat, and the Undersecretariat of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection. The area was cordoned off, and three tank trucks or water trucks were deployed to control the fire.
The Coyoacán municipality collaborated by clearing the roads for the Thursday market, as well as evacuating a group of girls, boys, and teachers from a preschool located on the same street. Mayor Giovani Gutiérrez arrived at the scene to supervise the actions and coordinate with the authorities.
During the intervention, a pet that was on the roof of the burning building was rescued unharmed. Furthermore, medical attention was provided to individuals affected by nervous crises, smoke inhalation, and minor burns.
The Attorney General's Office of Mexico City has begun the necessary investigations to determine responsibilities in the incident. Meanwhile, the municipality continues to offer support and advice to the neighbors and those affected by the disaster.
