The Mexican Association of Pharmaceutical Research Industries (AMIIF) has announced a significant change in its leadership, taking place in a context of full institutional stability.
This transition in the presidency of AMIIF marks a new chapter in the Association's history, with the hope that, under the leadership of Jorge Luis Caridad, it will continue to advance towards a health system that prioritizes the needs and well-being of the population.
The AMIIF Board of Directors expressed its gratitude to Ordaz for his vision and commitment: "We are deeply grateful for the vision, leadership, and commitment of Julio Ordaz, who knew how to steer AMIIF during a key period for health innovation, promoting collaboration and an agenda focused on people".
In his place, Jorge Luis Caridad, current General Manager of Johnson & Johnson Mexico, assumes leadership of the Association during this period of change.
A Legacy of Collaboration and Patient Focus
Julio Ordaz left a deep mark on AMIIF during his tenure, which was characterized by a humanistic and collaborative approach. Under his leadership, the Association promoted an open dialogue with authorities, the medical community, academia, and civil society, consolidating a stage of modernization and joint work.
His career at Johnson & Johnson has been marked by a focus on strategy, market access, and innovation. Prior to his current role, Caridad led the Southern Cone region, standing out for his commitment to innovation and the sustainability of health systems.
Since his arrival in Mexico, he has worked to position the country as a benchmark in clinical research and has driven initiatives that favor equitable access to innovative therapies.
Continuous Commitment to Innovation
In his first statement as Interim President, Jorge Luis Caridad reaffirmed AMIIF's commitment to the continuity of its strategic work: "At AMIIF, we reaffirm our commitment to the continuity of the strategic work we have been building with our partners. We will continue to build bridges of collaboration and strengthen public-private alliances that have allowed us to move towards a more solid and sustainable health system".
Caridad also highlighted the importance of maintaining the momentum on the Association's strategic pillars, which include access to innovation, intellectual property, clinical research, and regulatory certainty.
This decision comes after the international promotion of Julio Ordaz, who had been serving as President and General Manager of AstraZeneca Mexico. Caridad, with over two decades of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, has held senior management positions in various regions, including Latin America and Europe.
