Arctic Cold Arrives in Mexico

The National Weather Service forecasts that Tuesday will be a “very cold” day in most of the country due to the presence of an Arctic air mass. These conditions will create a frigid to very cold environment with frost at dawn in the northern, northeastern, central, eastern, and southeastern states of the country. There are conditions for snow or sleet to fall on the peaks of the Orizaba and Cofre de Perote volcanoes. At the end of Tuesday, cold front number 13 will enter the Caribbean Sea and will gradually stop affecting Mexico. The government of Mexico City issued an alert for 12 boroughs due to the presence of low temperatures forecast for Monday afternoon and night, and the early morning and morning of Tuesday, November 11. An Orange Alert was issued for the Álvaro Obregón, Cuajimalpa, La Magdalena Contreras, Milpa Alta, Tlalpan, and Xochimilco demarcations. A Yellow Alert was also issued for Coyoacán, Gustavo A. Madero, Iztapalapa, Miguel Hidalgo, Tláhuac, and Venustiano Carranza. The call urges the protection of children, the elderly, and pregnant women.
