New Agreement Boosts Oncology Development in Chiapas

The Chiapas State Health Secretariat and INCan have signed an agreement to strengthen oncology infrastructure, expand access to quality care, and develop training programs for cancer specialists.

New agreement boosts the development of the CECAN and expands the state's diagnostic and therapeutic capacity.

The Chiapas State Health Secretariat and the National Cancerology Institute (INCan) formalized an agreement aimed at strengthening infrastructure, training capacity, and strategic projects in oncology, with the goal of expanding access and improving the quality of care for the Chiapas population facing neoplastic diseases.

The agreement establishes a work plan that contemplates the integration of institutional efforts and the shared use of resources to launch priority actions.

These include advising on the development of prototypes and research protocols at the state level; providing technical support for the medical-architectural development of the State Cancer Center (CECAN); and planning academic programs for the training and updating of specialized technical and professional personnel in malignant tumors.

Furthermore, the agreement reinforces mechanisms that facilitate access to treatments, oncology services, and other essential interventions for cancer patients.

The signing of this agreement represents a significant advance in consolidating a more equitable, specialized, and territorially accessible oncological response by seeking improvements in infrastructure, diagnosis, timely referral, and continuity of care.

The participation of this management and clinical team underscores the technical and strategic nature of the collaboration.

The collaboration between the two institutions is profiled as a strategic component for the comprehensive strengthening of health services in Chiapas.

Those present at the ceremony included Oscar Arrieta Rodríguez, General Director of INCan; Omar Gómez Cruz, Secretary of Health of Chiapas; Luis Ernesto Morán Villatoro, Head of the Quality Management Unit of the Chiapas State Health Institute; as well as Bernardo Cacho Díaz, Medical Director of INCan; Federico Maldonado Magos, Head of Radiotherapy; Elizabeth Trejo Durán, Head of the Brachytherapy Department; and Francisco Lozano Ruiz, Head of the Teletherapy Department.
