Thanks to medical advances, today many women living with HIV are reaching advanced ages, a phenomenon that was unthinkable at the start of the epidemic. Science has advanced, but it is up to all of us in society to advance as well, recognizing each woman not only as a patient, but as the protagonist of a life that deserves to be lived to the fullest and without fear. Timely detection is key, which is why you can get tested for HIV and STIs at the ClĂnicas Condesa; if you are pregnant, have started a new relationship, or have had unprotected sex, come to us. These testimonies from women living with HIV are fundamental to breaking the stigma. We must provide dignified services and provide care without prejudice. Accompanying cisgender women and transgender people on their journey with HIV is a collective task. The struggle of women with HIV in Mexico is also the struggle for a more sensitive health system and a more empathetic society. Behind every number there is a life: mothers, daughters, students, workers, transgender women, and all of them are looking for their place and their right to health.
