In a statement, the institution expressed its solidarity with the medical staff who filed the complaints and noted that the investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Tamaulipas State Attorney General's Office, the authority responsible for conducting the corresponding proceedings and determining possible liabilities. As part of institutional actions, the organization also announced changes in the hospital's leadership. Dr. Judith Cornejo Barrera, a specialist in pediatric nephrology, has taken over as director of the Children's Hospital of Tamaulipas. IMSS Bienestar indicated that hospital management mechanisms and protocols have been strengthened to prevent and address any form of violence within the medical center. In its statement, the federal agency explained that these measures aim to ensure safe working conditions for healthcare personnel. The institution reiterated its commitment to cooperate with the authorities in charge of the investigation and to apply the necessary actions in accordance with current regulations to address any conduct that affects the integrity or rights of medical staff.
Mexico to Support Doctors Reporting Sexual Abuse
Mexico's social security institution will support resident doctors who accused hospital leadership of sexual abuse and announced management changes.
