Governor García Receives Influenza Vaccine During Cabinet Meeting

Governor Samuel García received the influenza vaccine as part of the 2024-2025 vaccination campaign to reduce respiratory illnesses. The campaign targets vulnerable groups including children, the elderly, and healthcare workers, aiming to administer over 1.5 million influenza vaccines across Nuevo León.

Governor Samuel García decided to get vaccinated against influenza during a break from a meeting with his cabinet, taking advantage of the start of the vaccination campaign. Accompanied by several officials, such as Juan Ignacio Barragán and his wife Mariana Rodríguez, he shared a video showing him ready to receive the vaccine.

In the video, the governor is seen joking with his colleagues while waiting for the vaccine. His wife also got vaccinated and commented that it did hurt. On the other hand, Barragán questioned the delay in the injection for the governor. Finally, García expressed his reaction to receiving the vaccine, amidst laughter and joking comments.

The Health Secretariat has started the vaccination campaign for the 2024-2025 winter season, aimed at vulnerable groups. Vaccines against influenza, Covid-19, and pneumococcus are being administered to sectors such as children, the elderly, pregnant women, people with chronic illnesses, and health workers.

Alma Rosa Marroquín, Secretary of Health in Nuevo León, emphasized the importance of getting vaccinated to prevent respiratory diseases during the winter. The goal for this season is to administer more than 1.5 million influenza vaccines and more than 700,000 Covid-19 vaccines at the sector level.

Marroquín thanked various agencies for their collaboration to ensure the distribution of vaccines and reach the entire population of the state. Additionally, she mentioned the importance of vaccination as a public health strategy and promoted the intensive campaign during this winter period.

Vaccines will be available at health centers and public health service medical units, such as IMSS, ISSSTE, Sedena, and Pemex throughout the state. Vaccination of children, the elderly, pregnant women, people with chronic illnesses, and health workers is essential to prevent the incidence of respiratory diseases during the winter.
