A corpse was found on Line 3 of the Collective Transport System (STC) Metro, causing fear among users. Initial reports shared by reporter Juan Carlos Alarcón indicated that during the early hours of Saturday, October 19, Metro workers discovered the body of a decomposing man in the tunnel at the intersection between the Coyoacán and Viveros stations.
Alarcón attached a photograph showing only the tracks and some workers from the CDMX Metro, leaving uncertainty for those who use this mode of transport daily. In response to this finding, the Metro issued a statement informing that its institutional security personnel coordinated the removal of the body of the man, found in the tracks area of the Viveros station of Line 3.
The team from the Rescue and Medical Emergencies Squadron (ERUM) confirmed that the person was deceased, prompting notification to the Public Ministry (MP) agent to proceed with the removal of the corpse, which was transferred to an investigation agency to determine the cause of death. Authorities have not provided information on the possible cause of death of the man found in the tracks area, but it is speculated that he may have suffered an accident while entering to steal copper wire.
This incident has caused concern among Metro users, who fear for their safety when using public transportation in one of the largest cities in the world. The Metro administration has assured its cooperation with authorities in the investigation, but the lack of information has left many in a state of alert. While it seems like a story worthy of October or November, with Halloween and Day of the Dead celebrations, reality has surpassed fiction in Mexico City (CDMX).
