Truck Accident Blocks Mexico-Puebla Highway

A garbage truck was involved in an accident on the Mexico-Puebla highway after losing its brakes and colliding with at least 10 vehicles. The incident occurred in the San Francisco Apolocalco neighborhood, in the Iztapalapa borough, affecting traffic due to the presence of emergency services working at the scene.

According to information from local authorities, the multiple collision happened in the central lanes of the Mexico-Puebla highway heading east towards Campeche. As a result, the highway was temporarily closed at the height of Fernando Soler, in the Ampliación Emiliano Zapata neighborhood, Iztapalapa borough.

To facilitate traffic, the Command, Control, Computing, Communications, and Citizen Contact Center of Mexico City suggested alternative routes to drivers, such as the Mexico-Puebla highway, Puebla Avenue, San Francisco, and Texcoco Avenue. After 12:00 PM, it was reported that traffic had partially been restored on the highway.

Local media reported at least 10 people injured as a result of the accident. Traffic authorities continued to work in the area to resolve the situation in the Ampliación Emiliano Zapata neighborhood. The Mexico City Citizen Security Secretariat shared videos of the accident showing the damage to several vehicles and the garbage truck involved in the incident.
