Hurricane Kristy has reached Category 1 on the Saffir-Simpson scale, located off the coasts of the Mexican Pacific. This phenomenon has caused heavy rain in several regions of the country, but it is expected to gradually move away from the coast as it moves westward.

The National Meteorological Service has issued alerts about the effects of Kristy, which has already generated strong winds, elevated surf, and heavy rain in various states. Very strong rains are expected in Chiapas, Jalisco, Nayarit, Tabasco, and Veracruz, as well as heavy rains in other entities such as Colima, Guerrero, Michoacán, and Puebla. Additionally, showers are forecasted in several regions of the country.

It is warned that the precipitation could cause landslides, river overflow, flooding, and inundation in low-lying areas of the affected states. Winds with gusts of up to 60 km/h and waves of up to three meters are expected on the coasts of Jalisco, Colima, and Michoacán, as well as strong wind gusts in northern and northeastern Mexico.

So far, Kristy has maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h and gusts of 140 km/h, moving west at 30 km/h. Its center is located 650 kilometers south-southwest of Playa Pérula, Jalisco, and 655 kilometers southwest of Manzanillo, Colima. It is expected to continue moving away from the Mexican coasts in the coming days.
