
A passenger truck crashed into the box of a trailer at kilometer 74 of the Zacatecas-Aguascalientes highway, resulting in the death of 24 people on board. Five more passengers were injured in the accident. Juan Manríquez Moreno, coordinator of the National Guard in Zacatecas, reported that the driver of the double-trailer, on its way to Aguascalientes, lost control and the second box carrying grains detached, impacting the passenger truck that was heading to Zacatecas with a final destination in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua.
The impact caused the bus to overturn and fall into a ravine of more than 10 meters. Emergency teams arrived at the site to rescue the passengers. The unfortunate loss of 24 people on the bus was confirmed, while five injured individuals were transferred to Clinic 1 of the Mexican Social Security Institute in the state capital. Experts from the Prosecutor's Office of the State of Zacatecas began investigations at the accident site to gather evidence and clarify responsibilities, as well as to recover the bodies.
A communication line (492 131 3055) was established to inform the families of the affected individuals about the situation. Rodrigo Reyes, General Secretary of Government, announced the support of the Executive Coordination for Comprehensive Victim Care to the affected persons and their families. Meanwhile, the Zacatecas-Aguascalientes highway remains closed in both directions to allow Civil Protection efforts in recovering the crashed bus from the ravine.
