The registration for the Welfare Pension for women aged 60 to 64 is now open. The first registration period will be available from October 7 to November 30. The registration modules will be operational from Monday to Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This program will offer financial support of 3,000 pesos bimonthly to participants, which will be delivered through the Welfare Bank card. It is expected that the first payments will be made starting January of next year, beginning with women aged 63 and 64.
The Universal Scholarship, also known as the Rita Cetina Scholarship during the administration of President Claudia Sheinbaum, will open its registration from October 14, 2024, to January 17, 2025. Students from public secondary schools will be able to enroll during that period. Informational assemblies will be held in the 35,000 secondary schools in the country to explain the steps to follow in the Rita Cetina program. In January 2025, beneficiaries will receive their Welfare Bank cards to receive the support.
The Government of Mexico is implementing various social programs in favor of vulnerable populations. In addition to the Welfare Pension, payments for social programs corresponding to the last bimonthly period of 2024 are being distributed. Ariana Montiel, Secretary of Welfare, announced that the payment schedule for the Welfare Pension for seniors aged 65 and older will be published on November 4, with an amount of 6,000 pesos. Other social programs that will benefit include the Welfare Pension for People with Disabilities and the Welfare Pension for Children of Working Mothers.
Claudia Sheinbaum, President of Mexico, intends to implement additional programs such as the Universal Scholarship or Rita Cetina. During her campaign, she emphasized the importance of joining efforts to support vulnerable populations in the country. The Welfare Pension for women aged 60 to 64 is one of the programs aimed at empowering through economic income, starting with those who belong to indigenous peoples and the Afro-descendant population. Basic education will also benefit from the Universal Scholarship.
