Nuevo León in seventh place in intentional homicides

In Nuevo León, 365 intentional homicides have been recorded so far in the year 2024, representing 5.5% of the national total. The implementation of the Zero Impunity Strategy is highlighted, which has led to significant arrests in the state.

The State of Nuevo León ranks seventh nationally in terms of intentional homicides, with a total of 1,365 cases registered between January and October 28, 2024, according to the Crime Incidence Report and Progress of the Federal Government Strategy. This represents 5.5% of the national total for this type of crime. During the transmission of the Morning Briefing for the People, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced these percentages, highlighting that seven federal entities account for nearly half of the victims, reaching 12,400 affected individuals.

In Nuevo León, the Zero Impunity Strategy has resulted in the detention of several individuals, including two plaza bosses in Parás and El Carmen. Additionally, 13 other people related to criminal activities were captured, seizing magazines, cartridges, drugs, cash, and vehicles. The confiscations also included 10 long and short firearms, as well as tactical equipment.

Nationally, Guanajuato tops the list of states with the highest number of intentional homicides, followed by Baja California, the State of Mexico, Chihuahua, Jalisco, and Guerrero. Nuevo León ranks seventh, while Morelos, Michoacán, and Sonora occupy the eighth to tenth positions respectively. According to the report, intentional homicides have decreased by 3.26% compared to the previous year.

Regarding the perception of insecurity, the National Urban Public Security Survey reports a reduction of 18.2 percentage points up to September 2024, suggesting an improvement in the perception of security among the population.
