During the early hours of this Wednesday, an explosion was reported at the Aceros SIMEC S.A. de C.V. plant located in San Cosme Xaloztoc, Tlaxcala. So far, 15 workers have been confirmed dead on site and several people were injured. The explosion occurred around 3:15 a.m., shaking Avenida Atlax and its surroundings.

Preliminary reports indicate that the explosion was caused by overheating of the boilers in the production area, where third-shift workers were present. Various institutions, such as the Tlaxcala Medical Emergency Regulatory Center (CRUMT), the Secretary of National Defense (SEDENA), Municipal and State Public Security, the Secretary of the Navy (SEMAR), and State and Municipal Civil Protection responded to the emergency.

Authorities focused on extinguishing the fire and searching for survivors amid the rubble. Rescue efforts continue, while an official report on the full extent of the tragedy is expected in the coming hours. The governor of Tlaxcala, Lorena Cuéllar, pledged to assist the victims' families.

In her statements, she expressed her deep sorrow for what happened and confirmed that the state prosecutor's office has initiated an investigation to determine responsibilities regarding the incident. "My total solidarity with the victims and their families in this very difficult time," expressed the governor.
