Metro CDMX Faces Delays and High Passenger Traffic

This Thursday, problems were reported on lines 12 and 2 of the Mexico City Metro. On line 12, which runs from Mixcoac to Tláhuac, high passenger influx and delays of more than 5 minutes were recorded, so users were advised to leave early and allow free closing of doors.

Regarding line 3, delays and slow progress were experienced towards Universidad, especially starting from the Hidalgo station, where trains were stopping in the tunnels. Despite no reported breakdowns, Metro CDMX acknowledged a high influx of passengers on that line at that time of day.

Users of Line 12 reported being stopped for more than 10 minutes at the Tomatlán station. The official response was that the delay was due to rush hour and the high influx of passengers. Some people expressed their dissatisfaction with the handling of the situation, suggesting that an empty train be sent to ease the load at the following stations.

At the Periférico Oriente station, a wait of more than 16 minutes was reported without any train passing, which led to platform overcrowding in both directions. It was reported that the lines with the highest demand were 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 12, A, and B, with waiting times exceeding 6 minutes.

Delays and the high influx of passengers also affected line 8, which runs from Constitución de 1917 to Garibaldi, with waits of up to 10 minutes. The STC Metro called on users to take precautions, allow the free closing of doors, and use the safety levers responsibly to avoid further delays in train circulation, with an average waiting time of 5 minutes to board a train.
