Jesús Manuel Pérez Méndez, a medical student at BUAP, received the 2024 Academic Excellence Award from AMFEM for his outstanding academic record. Currently an intern at the Northeastern Regional Complex.


Academic Excellence Award for Medical Student

Jesús Manuel Pérez Méndez, a medical student at BUAP, was awarded the 2024 Academic Excellence Award by AMFEM. This recognition highlights his outstanding academic performance, having never failed a subject and maintaining a constant average of 9.48.

Jesús is currently completing his social service at the University Clinic of the Northeastern Regional Complex, where he provides primary care to students, faculty, and administrative staff. His main goal is to serve the community and patients to improve their quality of life. Prior to this, he completed a year of internship at the General Hospital of Teziutlán, rotating in areas such as Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and General Medicine.

The young student emphasizes the importance of organization to achieve academic success, combining study with leisure moments. Jesús is grateful for the support of his teachers, classmates, and especially his family on this path to medicine.

Originally from Altotonga, Veracruz, Jesús chose BUAP for its humanistic approach in the medical career, which goes beyond treating diseases to address health as a whole. He highlights clear goals and proper time management as fundamental to his academic success.

Additionally, he emphasizes access to pedagogical resources such as libraries and digital materials, which complement his learning with updated and relevant information in the medical field. Upon completing his social service, Jesús plans to take the National Medical Residency Exam with the aim of specializing in Ophthalmology or Anesthesiology.
