Frost Front No. 9 Hits Nuevo León with Rain and Winds

A cold front number 9 brought a sudden drop in temperature to Nuevo León since the early morning of Thursday. A minimum of 16 degrees is expected during the afternoon and evening, accompanied by light rains and winds of up to 60 kilometers per hour with possible dust storms. Civil Protection of Nuevo León reported that isolated showers are expected in mountainous areas and in the citrus region of the state due to the arrival of this cold front.

The National Water Commission (Conagua) indicated that the cold front will continue its trajectory through the north and northeast of the country, interacting with the subtropical jet stream and a low-pressure area over Tamaulipas. This will cause strong gusts of wind in the northeast, east, and northwest of the country, as well as heavy localized rains.

Rainfall of between 25 to 50 millimeters is expected in states such as Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Chiapas, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo. Additionally, winds with gusts of up to 60 kilometers per hour are forecasted in Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora, Coahuila, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, among others.

Civil Protection issued recommendations to the population to prevent health issues due to the cold front. It is advised to dress warmly when leaving home, take vitamin C, and consume seasonal fruits and vegetables. It is important to avoid sudden changes in temperature and to remain sheltered at home whenever possible.
