Significant Progress in Missing Persons Cases in Jalisco

According to the report of the public version of the State Registry of Located and Missing Persons of Jalisco, as of October 31, 2024, 17,405 people reported as missing have been found. Of these, 15,348 remain missing since the counting began before the current administration.

Of the 17,405 people located to date, 5,595 are women and 11,810 are men. Among the located men, 2,408 were found deceased, while 306 women were found deceased.

In a statement, it is highlighted that the location of individuals in Jalisco is the result of a state strategy based on institutional cooperation across three levels of government, with particular emphasis on the Special Prosecutor's Office for Missing Persons and the State Commission for the Search of Persons of Jalisco.

The state government claims that, despite the fieldwork by collectives of families of missing persons, there is ongoing, discreet monitoring, and comprehensive attention for the families of missing individuals.

Regarding what to do in case a person reported as missing is not located, it is recommended to file a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office of the State of Jalisco or to present a report to the Search Commission. Once the authorities receive the notice of a person's disappearance, a standardized search protocol is activated, involving state, municipal, and federal authorities, aimed at finding the whereabouts of the missing person, adapting to the circumstances of each particular case.

Search bulletins are issued, and a coordinated search is initiated by the three levels of government. The public version of the State Registry of Missing Persons of Jalisco is available for consultation on the official website indicated in the report.
