The Coyoacán mayor's office continues with the campaign to remove unofficial bars in the area, having deployed a security operation last weekend that resulted in the elimination of stalls and goods used for the preparation of these drinks that were sold in unauthorized establishments or on public roads.
During the operation, carried out on Saturday, teams from the Citizen Security Directorate, the Government Directorate, and the collaboration of the National Guard dismantled six bars that offered alcohol sales for on-site consumption, an action that violates current regulations.
In addition to removing the customers present in these establishments, items placed on public roads that obstructed pedestrian and vehicular traffic in the southern neighborhoods of the district, such as Adolfo Ruiz Cortines, Ajusco, Pedregal de Santa Úrsula, Pedregal de Santo Domingo, Del Carmen, Villa Coyoacán, and Ampliación Candelaria, were also removed.
During the inspection of establishments and stalls, all supplies used for cocktail preparation, such as juices, condiments, syrups, fruits, and other foods intended for this preparation, were removed from the public road.
Mayor Giovani Gutiérrez stated that they will continue to implement these security measures, which have been in effect for more than three years, with the aim of protecting children and youth from the illegal consumption of alcohol on the street, affecting their right to a healthy environment for their development.
Despite the modifications to the Civic Culture Law to sanction the sale and consumption of alcohol in public spaces, disciplinary measures have not been sufficient to eradicate these types of clandestine commercial activities.
