The finalist of "La Casa de los Famosos México", Adrián Marcelo, decided to expose an alleged scam suffered by actor Arath de la Torre. Through his social media, Marcelo mocked the colleague who was a victim of cybercriminals posing as a well-known hotel chain.
Adrián Marcelo published a screenshot showing a montage of a WhatsApp chat with the name of the hotel involved in the supposed scam, thus ridiculing the situation. This action, which was replicated by a fan account of the comedian, created a stir online.
Arath de la Torre recounted to his followers how he was deceived by individuals who used social media to scam him with a fictitious hotel reservation. He revealed that he made a bank transfer for a reservation at the Hotel Dreams Resort & Spa Riviera Maya, contacting the scammers through WhatsApp.
The actor explained that after making the payment, the scammers blocked him and disappeared, leaving him with no way to recover his money. Having made an electronic transfer, Arath de la Torre finds himself in a complicated situation, as the bank cannot reverse the charge.
In light of this situation, Arath de la Torre called for vigilance against such scams and suggested that hotels should also take responsibility in these cases. The cybercriminals managed to deceive the actor by posing as a legitimate entity, creating a situation that has generated controversy on social media.
