Economic Emergency in Mexico in Response to Trump Policies

President Trump is preparing a series of decrees and executive orders, which could include declaring an "economic emergency" to impose tariffs, deport immigrants en masse, and classify Mexican cartels as terrorist groups. Aggressive tax cuts and policies to attract investments and jobs in the United States are also anticipated.

Mexico City has announced the publication of a tax incentive decree this week, aimed at attracting national and foreign investments, as well as promoting local production and the relocation of industries to reduce imports from Asia and other countries.

The Mexico Plan proposes incentives for companies to use national products and strengthen supply chains with the United States and Canada. Changes to laws are planned to increase private participation in mining and energy projects, as well as objectives like vaccine development in Mexico and training professionals.

To counteract the tariffs, measures such as taxes on finished clothing from countries without free trade agreements with Mexico and tariffs on the importation of raw materials have been implemented. This is part of a broader economic strategy aimed at strengthening productive integration in North America.

Additionally, trade agreements have been signed with the European Union, Brazil, and Saudi Arabia, aimed at ensuring security and sustainability in supply chains and addressing climate change. Trump seeks to control migration and drug trafficking, which requires new strategies from Mexico.

The industrial plan aims to reduce Mexico's dependence as a bridge for Chinese exports to the United States, aligning with tariffs imposed by T-MEC trading partners. It is anticipated to increase domestic content in various industries and promote the consumption of national products, as well as impose tariffs on courier companies.
