According to LPO, the local deputy of Movimiento Ciudadano, Armando Gutiérrez Canales, will run for the presidency of the Livestock Union of Nuevo León. His intention is to put an end to the long hegemony of Adrián de la Garza Tijerina, who has been the leader of the union for almost twenty years. In 2025, the renewal of the board will take place, and Gutiérrez Canales aims to prevent a potential reelection of De la Garza Tijerina.

Some ranchers have criticized the alleged lack of organization in the current management of the Livestock Union. It is estimated that the executive will allocate around 56 million pesos to address these issues, although there are doubts about whether this budget will be sufficient to tackle the complexities of the field.

In recent statements, the MC deputy mentioned: "They have been in the livestock union for 21 years or more... we lost our status over a year ago... the leadership was renewed in 2022, now is the opportunity to achieve change... Livestock in Nuevo León translates to a monopoly, fewer facilities for the rancher, young people are leaving, livestock is how many families survive."

Elections for local ranching unions are approaching, and starting in April, there will be a renewal in the state Livestock Union. Gutiérrez Canales hopes to have support from Palacio de Cantera to effectively tackle the sector's issues.

Among his goals are to intensify measures against bovine tuberculosis, eradicate the screw-worm, and obtain credentials to reopen the border with the United States, which is currently closed, causing losses of up to 40% for ranchers. The border closure is due to the presence of infected cattle from the center of the continent and lack of control on Mexico's southern border.

Movimiento Ciudadano seeks to weaken the influence of the PRI in a union where they have been allies for years. However, in the last elections, dissatisfaction led to orange profiles, such as Armando Gutiérrez, gaining ground in the livestock sector.
