Today we are going to talk about one of the fines that drivers can receive for not respecting the Hoy no Circula program. This fine can range from 20, 25, or 30 times the Measurement and Updating Unit (UMA), which amounts to 1,171, 2,714, and up to 3,257 pesos.
In addition to the fine, the car can also be towed, with an additional cost of 919 or 1,833 pesos, depending on the towing capacity of the vehicle, with the first figure for vehicles that do not exceed 3.5 tons.
The Hoy no Circula for Wednesday applies to vehicles with red stickers and plates ending in 3 or 4, from 05:00 to 22:00 hours. In the State of Mexico, the restriction applies in municipalities such as Atizapán, Ecatepec, Naucalpan, among others.
In Mexico City, the program covers all boroughs and some exceptions are vehicles with circulation holograms 0 and 00, which are exempt from these limitations.
Vehicles with circulation hologram 1 have restrictions on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, depending on the last digit of their plate. Foreign vehicles with foreign plates cannot circulate on Saturdays, nor from Monday to Friday during specific hours. There are also several exceptions to the Hoy no Circula program, such as emergency vehicles, school transport, among others.
In summary, it is important to be aware of the restrictions of the Hoy no Circula program and to be informed of the exceptions to avoid fines and inconveniences when driving in Mexico City and the State of Mexico.
