Judicial Election Interviews Reach 99% Attendance

The legislative evaluation committee reports a 99% attendance rate in the judicial election interviews, with final evaluations set to begin on January 26. Attention is drawn to the varied profiles of the candidates and the need for different perspectives on electoral matters.

Judicial Election Interviews Reach 99% Attendance

The interview stage for candidates in the judicial election has had a 99% attendance rate in the Legislative Power Evaluation Committee. The president of this committee, Andrés García Repper, mentioned in an interview with El Financiero that discussions will begin on Sunday, January 26, to define the details of the draw that will make up the third stage of the process.

García Repper highlighted the importance of the personal interview in the selection of future ministers and judges, pointing out that it is crucial to observe how candidates handle real problems. Although it was expected to conclude the in-person interviews on January 19, some candidates are still pending who have had difficulties arriving, especially those coming from other states.

Regarding the interviews for magistrates and circuit judges, commissioners are receiving assistance from advisors to formulate the questions, although the latter will not participate in the final evaluation. Diversity in candidate profiles is being sought, avoiding an automatic pass for those coming from regional courts, and favoring a different perspective on judicial issues.

The evaluation process has revealed changes in opinion among some candidates, who have shown adaptation and respect despite their initial skepticism towards judicial reform. The committee will start on Friday, January 24, to consolidate the scores of the interviews and evaluate the candidates to prepare the lists that will participate in the draw.

The deadline to complete the interviews is January 31, and should any issues arise that prevent meeting this deadline, out-of-time solutions will be sought to avoid challenges and ensure a transparent process.
