The majority of Morena in the Chamber of Deputies will conduct a review of the budget distribution for the year 2025 with the aim of addressing the immigration issue in the country. The Morena coordinator, Ricardo Monreal, announced this measure, highlighting that due to mass deportations, resources are needed that were not initially included in the budget.
In a meeting of deputies in Sinaloa, Monreal mentioned that they are willing to review the budget distribution and that they hope to reach an agreement with President Claudia Sheinbaum to make the necessary adjustments starting February 1, when the second ordinary session period begins.
The legislator emphasized the importance of supporting President Sheinbaum in government decisions, including a reinforcement of foreign policy to avoid interference in national territory. Additionally, he noted that his faction in the Legislative Palace has on its agenda the discussion, reform, and approval of 73 new regulatory laws that will regulate the recently approved constitutional reforms.
On the other hand, the president of the Budget and Public Account Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, Merilyn Gómez, mentioned the possibility of adjustments to the Federal Expenditure Budget 2025. She indicated that if there are affected areas, there is room to make modifications directly in the Treasury, although this task falls under the Executive, especially on President Sheinbaum and the Ministry of Finance.
Gómez explained that there is no preliminary amount for the adjustments, as it is the responsibility of the Executive to determine what they will be, using the available margin in the published budget. This adjustment process will be the decision of the president and the Ministry of Finance, who can carry it out at any time.
