A new robbery incident took place on the Atlixcáyotl highway in the early morning of Wednesday, January 22, where motorists were surprised by masked individuals who stopped the traffic of 12 vehicles. According to witnesses, gunfire was heard, although it was reported that shots were fired into the air. The affected individuals were stranded for hours awaiting police assistance.
The Secretary of Public Security reported that an operation was launched to reinforce surveillance in the area and provide support to the affected drivers. A search was initiated for a white Suburban vehicle with license plates D02BGA, in which the suspected perpetrators escaped, which has not yet been found. The SSP will increase surveillance in the area with the aim of preventing similar criminal acts.
The victims reported being stripped of their belongings by four armed individuals, dressed in black and wearing balaclavas. Some victims were beaten and forced to hand over their valuables. The police arrived at the scene after an emergency call, finding several affected individuals who reported the violence of the attack.
Some of the victims recounted how they experienced the robbery, mentioning that the robbers threw objects at their cars to stop them and then threatened them with firearms. It is estimated that at least four people participated in the attack.
