
The Attorney General's Office of the State of Sonora (FGJES) started the corresponding investigations after discovering the bodies and human remains of apparently 10 people in a sparsely populated area 2.5 kilometers north of Caborca. "The exact number will be determined through forensic studies, as they show an advanced state of decomposition and different timelines concerning the date of death," the FGJES informed in a statement.
Elements of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AMIC) maintain a deployment in coordination with authorities from the three levels of government for the follow-up on this case. The FGJES reaffirms its commitment to guarantee exhaustive and coordinated investigations to reach the truth and seek justice, thereby strengthening safety and citizen trust.
In an additional report, the Prosecutor's Office announced that 11 people, including three minors, were detained in the same area for possession of firearms. "The Criminal Investigation Agency (AMIC) and the National Defense Secretary (DEFENSA) captured 11 people, three of them minors, in possession of firearms in the Niños Héroes neighborhood in Caborca, in an action that reaffirms the commitment of the authorities to combat organized crime in the region."
During investigation and prevention patrols, the Joint Operation detected an armed individual outside a house on 31st Street. Noticing the presence of the authorities, the man entered the property, and from inside, the individuals claimed to be armed but chose to surrender peacefully.
At the site, an arsenal was secured, including an AR-15 long gun, 8 AK-47 assault rifles, a Glock brand 9x19 caliber pistol; additionally, the detainees offered 300 thousand pesos in exchange for their release, an offer that was rejected by the operational elements. All detainees and evidence were made available to the Public Prosecutor's Office assigned to the Sonora Delegation of the Attorney General's Office of the Republic (FGR) for the integration of the corresponding investigation file.
