The president of the Senate expressed outrage at the decision of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judiciary of the Federation (TEPJF) to halt the judicial election process due to an amparo from a judge in Michoacán. He described the action as an act of "villainy" by the Judiciary, accusing them of irresponsibility and political misery.
The drawing to select candidates for the Judicial Power election will take place on Friday, January 31, in the Plenary Hall, as announced by Gerardo Fernández Noroña, president of the Senate. Candidates will be chosen randomly, and it will be ensured that the selected individuals are appropriate through a transparent and verified process.
Regarding the aspirants from the Legislative Power, the Evaluation Committee will be responsible for selecting candidates based on the limits established before February 4. If the Court does not accept the candidacies, the Senate will send them directly to the National Electoral Institute (INE).
The TEPJF decided to proceed with the maneuvers of the Judicial Evaluation Committee, which, according to the president of the Senate, strengthens the process and guarantees the participation of all involved. The resolution issued by the tribunal indicates that all candidates will participate in the lottery, without exceptions.
The final decision to accept or reject the candidates selected during the lottery procedure will rest with the Court. The entire process will be carried out transparently and will strictly follow the tribunal's instructions to ensure the legitimacy of the election.
