Rosa Icela Rodríguez, head of the Ministry of the Interior (Segob), explained in the morning press conference on Tuesday the strategy 'Mexico Embraces You' that is being implemented in response to the threats from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding mass deportations.
According to Rodríguez, the migrant reception centers set up in the northern border states of Mexico are currently empty. Reception centers have been established in Baja California (two), Sonora (two), Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas (three) as part of the temporary strategy.
The Secretary emphasized the collaboration between various federal agencies, and local and state governments, especially in the northern border area, to provide proper attention to returned migrants. Additionally, it was reported that Segob will meet with companies that are members of the Business Coordinating Council to continue the collaboration, which has promised more than 35,000 jobs in various areas for Mexicans deported from the United States.
In response to the declaration of 'national emergency' and the threats of mass deportations by Donald Trump, the Mexican government has planned the Effective Reception Strategy, known as 'Mexico Embraces You.' This plan aims to provide access to welfare programs, health services, transportation to their places of origin, and identity documentation for repatriated nationals.
The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) will offer protection to repatriated individuals and their families by integrating them into the IMSS Mandatory Regime to access health insurance, maternity benefits, and vaccinations, for humanitarian reasons.
Additionally, it was detailed that deported Mexicans would have access to social programs such as Elderly Pension, Pension for Persons with Disabilities, Support Program for Working Mothers, Sembrando Vida, Pension for Women Wellbeing, and Health House by House, among others.
The program 'Youth Building the Future,' which offers support in Benito Juárez universities, scholarships for secondary and higher education, will also be available for deportees. Following the instructions of the Presidency, the 'Bienestar Paisano Card' will be issued with two thousand pesos to those arriving, to be used for their transportation to their hometowns, considering that free transportation, accommodation, and food have been promised to reach their home states.
