Claudia Sheinbaum Reports Major Drug Trafficking Losses

The Government of Mexico informed that drug cartels have suffered millions in losses during the first four months of Claudia Sheinbaum's presidency. According to authorities, actions taken during this period have left the cartels without at least 53 billion 770 million pesos, around 2 billion 600 million dollars. Ten thousand 148 people were arrested for high-impact crimes, and firearms, drugs, and chemical substances were confiscated.

The Secretary of Security, Omar García Harfuch, highlighted that elements from the Army, the Navy, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, and the General Prosecutor's Office carried out prevention, surveillance, and reconnaissance actions, as well as investigative work. A total of 139 clandestine synthetic drug labs were dismantled, and a large amount of chemicals and equipment was seized.

The significant seizure of drugs such as methamphetamine and fentanyl was emphasized in various operations carried out in different regions of Mexico. Additionally, security measures have been reinforced at the borders and ports of the country to combat drug trafficking. The four-pillar security strategy implemented by Sheinbaum's government has been key in these actions.

The president defended this strategy and stated that they will continue to inform the population about advances in security matters in the country. The importance of coordination between federal and state authorities to maintain peace and security was highlighted. Sheinbaum reiterated her willingness to hold high-level meetings once all appointments from the United States Government are ratified.

Despite pressures from the Donald Trump Administration, Mexico has defended its security policy and shown progress in the fight against drug trafficking. Sheinbaum emphasized the reduction of homicides during her tenure, although she acknowledged the challenges the country still faces in terms of security. Measures have been implemented to combat the trafficking of arms and drugs from the United States.
