President Claudia Sheinbaum informed in her morning conference that so far Mexico has recorded cases of human rights violations during deportation flights from the United States. When asked about videos showing migrants arriving handcuffed in Guatemala, Sheinbaum stated that these are not cases in Mexico. 'In all cases when they arrive in Mexico, they arrive without handcuffs, without any element,' affirmed the president.
In the country, migrants are interviewed to determine if their human rights were violated at any point in the process. So far, two cases are known: the first, of a woman from Guatemala, and the second, of a national. Regarding both, Sheinbaum stated that they are being reviewed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and that, when confirmed, a formal complaint is filed against the United States.
Despite these cases, the president clarified that this problem is not exclusive to the most recent flights under Donald Trump, but it is a measure of complaint that has been applied since previous administrations. In many cases, Mexico has won these complaints.
