Detention of the Mayor of Bella Vista for Serious Crimes

Rosember López Roblero, the mayor of Bella Vista, was detained for alleged serious crimes. The governor of Chiapas assures that the illicit acts pointed out in the Sierra will be investigated.


Detention of the Mayor of Bella Vista for Serious Crimes

The Sierra is saved after Rosember López Roblero, representative of the Chiapas Unido party, took office on October 1, 2024. The transfer of power was not without difficulties, as the mayor reported problems receiving the municipal presidency building. López Roblero thus becomes the second mayor arrested in Chiapas, following the detention in early January of José Antonio Villatoro, mayor of Comalapa, for alleged links to organized crime.

In an official statement, the governor of Chiapas mentioned that the mayor was accused by residents of the Sierra of engaging in alleged illicit activities. He stated that the Attorney General's Office and the Secretary of Public Security would provide more details about the detention. Additionally, the governor committed to paying special attention to the reports coming from the mountainous area, emphasizing that the Sierra will never again be ignored, mistreated, or violated.

Eduardo Ramírez, governor of the State of Chiapas, informed through his social networks about the detention of Rosember López Roblero, mayor of Bella Vista. According to the state attorney general, the mayor has been arrested for the alleged commission of serious crimes in his municipality. It was assured that action would be taken with authority and respect for the law in this case.
