Grupo Frontera Faces Backlash for Trump Links

The Mexican regional music group Grupo Frontera has generated controversy after being criticized for alleged support for U.S. President Donald Trump. Rumors and memes emerged on social media leading to the band's cancellation.

Adelaido Solís, the vocalist of Grupo Frontera, has expressed in a TikTok video his eagerness to return to the stage, although he has not revealed specific dates for future concerts. However, two performances are known to be scheduled for 2025, one on March 14 in Austin, Texas, and another on March 16 in Houston, Texas.

A video featuring the vocalist's grandmother, known as Payo, dancing to the song YMCA by Village People, the group that participated in Trump's campaign closing, has contributed to the controversy. Although the grandmother does not show explicit support for the president in the video, it has raised questions about the group's political stance.

The cancellation of Grupo Frontera was driven by a TikTok clip shared by user @sarahjasmine__, who claimed that the band members are part of a group called 'Latinos for Trump'. This group openly supports the president, generating a negative reaction on social media.

It is important to mention that Grupo Frontera has deleted content from their social media that showed support for Trump, leading to a division of opinions among their followers. The band has been compared to other previously canceled artists, such as Yahritza and his Esencia, with whom they collaborated on the song 'Frágil'.
