Corruption Scandal in SNTE of Nuevo León

Retired teachers from Section 50 of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE) in Nuevo León continue to accuse Juan Gutiérrez Mendoza, head of the organization, of an alleged embezzlement of 200 million pesos. According to those affected, the leader has diverted millions of pesos over the years through billing companies, which has led to a shortage of medications at the teachers' clinic.

"There is widespread complaint within the teaching community; I just called the medical service for some medications and there are none," stated Lucilda Pérez, leader of the retired teachers, highlighting the seriousness of the situation. The presence of nepotism in this union section is also problematic, as there are favored companies linked to Alfonso Cepeda Garza, son of the national leader of the SNTE, Alfonso Cepeda Salas.

The teachers demand that the competent authorities intervene in the matter and conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged diversion of funds that affects the assets of education workers. The complaints against Gutiérrez Mendoza have persisted for several years, as he is accused not only of failing to make payments to retired teachers but also of diverting resources intended for that purpose.
