Claudia Sheinbaum Prepares Plans Amid Tariff Threats

President Claudia Sheinbaum stated on Friday that her government has prepared plans a, b, and c in response to the 25% tariffs on Mexican products announced by U.S. President Donald Trump. She is still waiting for concrete details to define her strategy, keeping dialogue as a fundamental piece in the relationship between Mexico and the United States.

Sheinbaum appeared "prepared" after Trump's statements and recalled that she had previously warned about possible tariffs. Despite the tension, the president highlighted the importance of dialogue and the need to make decisions calmly and with a cool head. Mexico views this measure with concern, as it is the largest trading partner of the United States, with exports valued at nearly 30% of the Mexican GDP.

The president emphasized the implications that these tariffs could have on the U.S. economy and reiterated that Mexico will always defend the dignity of its people, national sovereignty, and will maintain a dialogue without subordination with its northern neighbor. Regarding Trump's demands about migration and security, Sheinbaum mentioned the existence of a dialogue table where agreements are achieved based on shared responsibility, mutual trust, cooperation, and respect for sovereignty.
