The coordinator of the Morena parliamentary group in San Lázaro, Ricardo Monreal, announced that the party declares itself on "alert and in permanent session" in the Congress of the Union due to the 25% tariffs that will come into effect on February 1. Monreal expressed the party's willingness to support any action that the Government deems necessary in light of this situation.
During a plenary meeting, attended by several heads of government secretariats, Monreal highlighted the preparation and determination of Claudia Sheinbaum's Government to face these measures. It was mentioned that there is a plan of action regarding the tariffs, demonstrating the clarity and seriousness with which this issue is being addressed.
A upcoming meeting of the Morena parliamentary group was announced, to which important government officials will be invited, including Marcelo Ebrard, as well as the Secretaries of Finance, Health, and Education, among others. Monreal emphasized the importance of prudence and sensibility in negotiations to avoid any negative impact on the country's economy.
Regarding Marcelo Ebrard's cancellation of attendance at the plenary of Morena Deputies, Monreal explained that the secretary was urgently needed at Palacio Nacional due to Donald Trump's statement about Mexico's inability to stop the tariffs. Despite this absence, the group reaffirmed its willingness to face any challenges that may arise in terms of economic issues and national sovereignty.
