Roberto Gil Zuarth, lawyer and former PAN senator, has been a professor at Anáhuac del Sur University and ITAM in various subjects related to law and democracy. He currently leads a law firm specialized in administrative and constitutional litigation. In a recent interview, he expressed his disagreement with the process of selecting ministers for the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, stating that it is "rigged" in favor of Morena.
Gil Zuarth explained that he did not seek political agreements or contacts to be considered in the selection process for the Court, and announced that he is forming a political group to denounce the alleged fraud in that election. Despite not being selected, he ruled out challenging the outcome and expressed his intention to follow another path in this situation.
According to the requirements to aspire to the position of minister of the SCJN, Gil Zuarth mentioned that one must have the necessary technical knowledge and be recognized for their honesty, good public reputation, competence, and academic and professional background. Despite his extensive background in politics and professional experience, he believes he does not meet the criteria established by Morena and the evaluation committees.
Roberto Gil Zuarth holds a law degree from ITAM, with postgraduate studies in constitutional law, and has held various public positions, such as federal deputy, undersecretary of governance, and senator of the Republic. He criticizes that the selection process for SCJN ministers favors candidates aligned with Morena and close to the current government, considering that the election is biased in favor of that political party.
