No Mexican Will Be Sent to Guantanamo: Official

Juan Ramón de la Fuente, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, assured that no Mexican detained in the United States will be sent to Guantanamo, Cuba. This statement comes after the government of Donald Trump sent the first flight with detained migrants to that prison.

In an interview before a meeting of senators from Morena, the chancellor stated: "Regarding the issue of Guantanamo, I can tell you that no Mexican, no Mexican will go there, under any circumstances. Since the news was reported, a diplomatic note was sent to the United States Embassy specifically stating that we will receive all Mexicans who wish to, and that will continue to happen."

De la Fuente praised the agreement reached by President Claudia Sheinbaum with Donald Trump, describing it as historic. He highlighted Sheinbaum's diplomatic skills and emphasized the importance of maintaining national sovereignty, the willingness to engage in dialogue, and collaboration on various issues.

In other news, the United States sent the first flight with detained migrants in its territory to a detention center at the Guantanamo Military Base (Cuba). White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt announced this measure, stating that it aims to prevent the U.S. from becoming a destination for undocumented criminals from various nations.

The Trump administration has launched a campaign against the more than 11 million undocumented migrants in the country, labeling them as "criminals" and promising to carry out an extensive deportation process.
