Claudia Sheinbaum Presides 108th Constitution Anniversary

Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the first female president of Mexico, will preside over the ceremony for the anniversary of the Constitution of 1917 this Wednesday, February 5. In an unprecedented move, Sheinbaum has not invited the ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation to the ceremony, stating that the reason is clear.

In his address at the 108th anniversary ceremony of the Constitution, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, president of the board of the Senate, emphasized that the Judiciary has hindered the election of the Judiciary 2025, accusing them of cheating to turn their backs on the people. Noroña highlighted that in Mexico, the people are in charge and no one else, praising Sheinbaum's role in defending the people.

Sheinbaum announced in her morning conference that she will present proposals and secondary laws for reforms at the commemoration event for the 108th anniversary of the Constitution of 1917. It is expected that the president will arrive at the Teatro de la República at 11:00 hours to inaugurate the official ceremony.

The president mentioned that among the proposals are reforms and new secondary laws, especially mentioning issues such as corn. To date, Sheinbaum has maintained that the relationship between the powers must be based on mutual respect, and that the Court has committed abuses that have motivated her decision not to invite the ministers to the ceremony.
