Attorney General Orders Removal of Sexual Scenes from Luis Miguel Series

The Mexican Attorney General has ordered the removal of sexually explicit scenes from the successful Netflix series about Luis Miguel, following complaints from public figures. A federal judge is set to decide on February 11 if the scenes should be eliminated as demanded by Issabela Camil, one of the complainants.

Attorney General Orders Removal of Sexual Scenes from Luis Miguel Series

Seven years ago on the streaming platform Netflix, a biographical series about Luis Miguel was released with great success. Produced by Gato Grande and MGM Televisión, it consisted of three successful seasons that sparked controversy due to the depiction of real public figures, including former partners of the artist, such as Stephanie Salas and Isabel Camilla.

Former partners criticized the series, and Luis Miguel's ex-wife, Aracely Arámbula, filed a lawsuit against the proceedings. Specifically, in connection with these ex-partners, Luis Miguel was summoned by the General Prosecutor's Office of Mexico, demanding to remove sexual scenes.

According to information, on Tuesday, February 11, the federal court will decide whether sexual scenes between the characters of Luis Miguel and Eric (the name by which the actor is referred to in the series) should be removed. Despite the fact that on January 31, the General Prosecutor's Office had already instructed the platform to remove such scenes, Netflix has not yet made any changes.

The lawsuit raises the question: why did Isabel Camilla specifically file a complaint against the series about Luis Miguel?
