The Nayarit government has issued an administrative decree that prohibits the interpretation and reproduction of certain genres of music in public spaces, in order to avoid the glorification of crime and the promotion of violence.
Specifically, the decree establishes the prohibition of genres such as 'tumbados corridos', 'narcocorridos', 'war corridos', among others, in public events held in plazas, auditoriums, stadiums, and entertainment venues. The State Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection of Nayarit will be responsible for verifying compliance with this measure through inspection operations and imposing penalties in case of non-compliance.
The penalties provided include the temporary or definitive suspension of the event, as well as the revocation of operating permits. The decision to prohibit these musical genres is based on the need to promote values of peace and respect, fostering music and art as means to build a culture of peace in society.
The Nayarit government justifies the prohibition of 'narcocorridos' by arguing that they have a negative impact on society, especially on youth, by promoting violence and crime. With the implementation of this measure, the aim is to strengthen public security and guarantee a violence-free environment at public events held in the state. The decree has taken effect throughout the state of Nayarit since Wednesday.
